COLLEGE, CONSIDERED.
Thoughtful college admissions counseling.
Choosing where you want to apply is hard. I help motivated students find the colleges and universities that are right for them, guide them through the application process, and help them craft and edit their application essays.
THE PROCESS:
1) Get to know you.
What are your interests? What do you look for in a college? Urban or rural? Small or big? Finding the schools you're interested in takes time and work. I take the time to get to know you and create a portfolio of colleges and universities that best suit your academic goals, personal interests, and financial considerations. As a current college student who has gone through this process myself, I know the right tools and resources to leverage to curate the best list of schools for you.
Interested in selective colleges? Finding the right fit matters more than you think. I can help you create a list of safety, target, and reach schools that you actually want to attend. Applying to college is more fun when you like all of your options.
2) Create a plan.
The college admissions timeline is often confusing and school-specific. I help you create a timeline to get your applications completed, with checkpoints and goals throughout the summer and the fall semester.
I have a flexible scheduling system that can be adjusted to your needs. Are you self-motivated and just want some occasional help? Or would you like weekly or bi-weekly meetings to keep you on track and engaged? Either way, we will find the schedule that works best for you.
3) Write those essays.
Your essays are how college admissions officers get to know you. Your writing demonstrates your voice, shares your stories, and shows the admissions officers how you engage with the world. I provide feedback, advice, and editing help to your personal statement, and turn it into something that you can be proud of. I am a highly-trained writing tutor who has worked with undergraduates and masters students on all kinds of writing, from PhD application essays to hundred-page dissertations. I have spoken to college counselors and admissions officers about what makes a great essay, and have personal experience applying to over 15 top colleges and universities.
I also help you brainstorm reponses to short essay questions, develop your drafts, and turn your essays into polished pieces that will grab readers' attention. Writing can be scary, but I will guide you through the process, and you will learn valuable writing skills that can help you not only on your applications, but throughout your college experience.
